Positive Grid Spark Amp (Is It Worth The Hype?)

Today I try out the much talked about Spark Amp by Positive Grid. It’s a practice amp that you can also use for bass and acoustic guitars. It’s also a modeling amp, and it comes with 30 different amp models. The Spark Amp is fairly affordable, and it’s fairly compact. It’s also a new sort of guitar amp, in that it will accompany you when you play. But the important question is: how does it sound? That’s what we’ll see today. Hope you enjoy!

The gear I most often use.
A Stratocaster of some kind, either an Yngwie Malmsteen Strat, such as this: https://www.thomann.de/intl/fender_yngwiemalmsteen_vw.htm?partner_id=45801
or a custom Strat with a scalloped fretboard.
For 7 string stuff I mostly use an Ibanez Universe.
A Marshall 1987x: https://www.thomann.de/intl/marshall_1987x_roehrentopteil.htm?partner_id=45801
Marshall Cab with 30 Watt Celestions: https://www.thomann.de/intl/marshall_mr1960ahw_gitarrenbox.htm?partner_id=45801
I used to use a Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive, but these days I use a Strymon Riverside: https://www.thomann.de/intl/strymon_riverside.htm?partner_id=45801
Boss NS-2 noise gate: https://www.thomann.de/intl/boss_ns2_noise_suppressor.htm?partner_id=45801
Strymon Sunset: https://www.thomann.de/intl/strymon_sunset.htm?partner_id=45801
A Morley Bad Horsie 2 wah: https://www.thomann.de/intl/morley_steve_vai_bad_horsie_2.htm?partner_id=45801
Strymon Timeline delay: https://www.thomann.de/intl/strymon_timeline.htm?partner_id=45801
Or a TC Electronic Flashback Mini: https://www.thomann.de/intl/tc_electronic_flashback_mini_delay.htm?partner_id=45801
An AKG C-414 mic: https://www.thomann.de/intl/akg_c414_xls.htm?partner_id=45801
The patch cables on my pedalboard are these: https://www.thomann.de/intl/ebs_pcf_dl18_dlx_flat_patch_cable.htm?partner_id=45801
Pedaltrain Novo 24: https://www.thomann.de/intl/pedaltrain_novo_24_tc.htm?partner_id=45801
For acoustic stuff I use a Taylor 710 short scale thingy.

Awesome practice amp that I am loving. My only wish for future update would be to add a Spring reverb, a Victory amp simulation, and the ability to use a wah pedal. I’d also love a few pedal simulations from Strymon and Snake Oil. Other than that, it’s been great so far.
